Workshop for families
26.05.2024.
At a time when we have digital cloud-based memory storage of almost unlimited capacity at our disposal, the workshop ‘My Scrapbook’ will be an opportunity to practice the joy of creating by using recycled materials and experience the positive impact of a pen and a pencil on the memory-forming process in the human brain. The workshop takes place as part of the exhibition ‘Life after Death. Remembrance Practices and the Museum’.
During the workshop, participants, instructed by the museum educator, will be able to create their own scrapbook using recycled materials: book covers, scraps of fabric and different kinds of paper – white, coloured or squared. Recording your summer adventures by using writing implements or by making collages will help your brain securely store your memories. Writing is a sensory experience that creates a whole body of sensations: we feel the texture of the paper, hear the sound of the pen gliding across the page and see the lines it is making. Thus, the process connects various areas of brain, aiding memorizing and learning.
